Dr. M. Saiful Huq is a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Director of Medical Physics at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, both based in the United States. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and has authored over 187 peer-reviewed publications. He has delivered more than 242 invited talks worldwide, including many plenary and keynote presentations, and has served as an examiner for the American Board of Radiology (ABR), the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), and the International Medical Physics Certification Board (IMPCB).
A Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Institute of Physics (IOP), Dr. Huq has held numerous leadership roles nationally and internationally, including serving as President and Chair of the AAPM Board of Directors of AAPM.
Dr. Huq is passionate about transforming cancer care and reducing global health disparities, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. He has spent decades advancing education, training, research, and equity in healthcare—improving lives and inspiring change worldwide.
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Huq has received numerous honors, including the U.S. President’s Lifetime Achievement Gold Medal Award, the William D. Coolidge Gold Medal Award (AAPM)—the highest award in his field—the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Upstate New York Chapter of AAPM, the Global Health Catalyst Distinguished Leader Award, the Distinguished Medical Physicist Award from the Indo-American Society of Medical Physics, and the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) Award.
